Labiaplasty

Over the last several decades women have become more and more aware of what the female genitalia “should” look like. With more pubic hair shaving and more awareness of “what other women look like”, via pornography, etc., emphasis is placed on looking more normal or youthful “down there.”

Childbirth often leaves the labia looking raggedy or torn, and the aging process also adds to elongation and thinning of the labia minora.

All of these changes can be easily taken care of with a surgery called a “labiaplasty.” This is accomplished in a free standing surgery center with general anesthesia and is very well tolerated. Recovery is quick as most are able to resume regular activity within 2 – 3 days and sexual activity within about a month.

Sometimes labiaplasty is done in conjunction with other surgeries such as vaginal rejuvenation or clitoral un-hooding.

There are also changes noted with the labia majora which can be addressed. Usually these changes are to remove some of the fat that is drooping and causing problems with sexual activity. All of these things will be discussed at your office visit.
